American Airlines To Start Columbus Flights This August
On the morning of Thursday, April 29, 2021, The Columbus Airport announced on August 17, 2021, American Airlines will begin daily flights between Columbus and Charlotte, NC. as well as Dallas-Fort Worth. The new routes gives Columbus passengers access to three of the nations busiest airports.
"The Columbus Airport Commission continues to work with our airline partners to meet the air transportation and economic development needs of the community, its customers and partners," said Don Cook, Board Chair. "These new, non-stop services connecting our region to east and west coast destinations will be a huge asset for business travelers, government officials and our community."
American Airlines previously had daily service between Columbus and Dallas-Fort Worth, but exited the market in the summer of 2013. The exit of the airline left only Delta service to Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Daily.
"Columbus has been on our radar for a while and we're eager to offer additional air travel options to our largest hubs in Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth," said Brian Znotins, American's Vice President of Network Planning. "With these new flights, local residents can access American's global network with just one stop to the world."
According to a release from Sonya Overton, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development, American Airline flights between Columbus and Charlotte's Douglas International Airport and the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will begin on August 17, 2021. Tickets for upcoming flights will go on sale on Monday, May 3, 2021.
The Columbus Airport has undergone many changes in recent years and has continually announced the airport was looking to recruit new airlines with new destinations. In addition to the new airline service the airport is presently undergoing a major terminal upgrade, which marks the first terminal upgrade since 1991.
