At-Home Store Nears Peachtree Mall Debut
Crews have been hard at work over the past several months on the new At Home store in Peachtree Mall. The store located at 3131 Manchester Expressway in Columbus is in the final stages of construction.
Crews have wrapped up much of their work on the exterior of the building and trucks have began rolling into the parking lot of Peachtree Mall to bring items such as store fixtures into place. Signs have also been erected above the front of the store that shop opening Spring 2017. A construction worker on scene told us that the store should open in early February 2017.
The Plano-Texas based company is filling a massive void that was left when Belk inc. closed the Parisian store down at Peachtree Mall. The former location was purchased by competitor Dillard's whom already had a presence in the mall and has sat vacant for nearly a decade. Last year Dillard's sold the property allowing for the leasing of the property by mall management group General Growth Properties to find a new retailer to fill the void.
The addition of At Home is the latest of retailers to fill voids in the mall. While many malls across the U.S. have suffered Peachtree Mall still maintains a high occupancy rate. In addition after much speculation the Macy's store at the mall survived a list of stores slated to be closed by Macy's this year.
At Home will bring a unique mix to the mall as the store specializes in home decor and furnishings. In addition to the new Columbus location the store is also set to open new stores in nearby Montgomery, AL and Mobile, AL. The Columbus location becomes the 8th location in Georgia. At Home operates 6 stores in Metro Atlanta and one in central Georgia in the city of Warner Robins.
