Big Events At South Commons This Weekend

The GHSA State Cheerleading Championships and Greater Columbus Fair are on tap at South Commons this weekend.
COLUMBUS, GA: A full weekend is on tap at the South Commons entertainment area of Columbus this weekend. Two big events will fill the Columbus Civic Center and its adjacent parking lot with hundreds of visitors from across the state of Georgia as the annual Greater Columbus Fair kicks off and the GHSA State Cheerleading Championship are on tap for the venue.

The first event is the annual Greater Columbus Fair. The fair kicks off on Thursday November 9th. This years fair falls slightly later than previous fairs which have normally been held in the month of October. The fair is also setup in the west side of the Civic Center parking lot this year near Golden Park.

The 2017 Greater Columbus Fair will also bring with it several attractions including the High flying pages aerial thrill show, a Lion and Tiger show, Monster truck rides, Mark Conley's comedy and magic show, a petting zoo, and on Saturday at 2 pm the Miss Greater Columbus Fair Pageant will be held.

In addition to the fair celebrating its opening weekend a second event inside the Columbus Civic Center will bring dozens of the top high school cheerleading teams from across the state of Georgia to the Civic Center to include defending state champs; Lambert, Northgate, McIntosh, Cedartown, Pierce County, Vidalia, Mt. Paran, Gordon Lee, and Woodland-Cartersville.
