Columbus Police Investigate Saturday Homicide

COLUMBUS, GA- The Columbus Police Department is investigating a Saturday homicide that took place in the East Wynnton area of the city.

Limited details have been released at this time in reference to the homicide, but Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed 31-year-old Delarance Jones was fatally wounded in a shooting on Colorado Street on Saturday, August 26, 2023.

Bryan does confirm Jones does appear to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds and his body will be sent for an autopsy. Columbus police responded to the area of the 2900 block Colorado Street around 11 a.m. on Saturday morning and sealed the area off with crime scene tape.

Columbus police have made no comment on the homicide as of yet as an active crime scene remains in place on Colorado Street into the early afternoon hours. The case remains an active investigation at this time.
