CPD's Operation Honey Badger Nets Drugs, Cash, Weapons And More

COLUMBUS, GA- A eight night operation by local law enforcement netted large seizures of illegal weapons, drugs and wanted persons. The targeted operation focused on known violent areas of Columbus in the month of June. Police targeted high crime neighborhoods of Columbus in an operation called "Operation Honey Badger".



During the eight night operation in June 2023, law enforcement conducted 729 investigative stops. The focus of the operation was to locate and arrest people who had illegal firearms, said police. The stops netted more than just illegal firearms.

As a result of the operation police announced the following results.

- 47 outstanding warrants cleared
-153 traffic citations were issued
- 96 traffic warnings were issued
- 8 principals summons arrests
-$9,904 in cash seized
-1,421 grams of marijuana seized
-7 grams of cocaine seized
-12 grams of methamphetamine seized
-18 ecstasy tablets seized
-33.6 grams of THC edibles seized
- 19 oxycodone pills seized

Local law enforcement agencies have conducted operations over recent months to target growing crime concerns across the Fountain City.

Operation Honey Badger was done in conjunction with other agencies including; The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office, Muscogee County School District Police, Columbus State University Police, and Coweta County Sheriff's Office.
