CSU Dedicates New Tennis Complex

CSU and City Officials celebrated the official grand opening of the new $9.5 million Tennis facility at Cooper Creek Park
COLUMBUS, GA: Dignitaries from around the Columbus area converged to Columbus' Cooper Creek Park on Milgen Road on Thursday evening to celebrate the opening of new state of the art Tennis Facility.


Representatives from the Columbus Consolidated Government, Columbus State University, and the Columbus Regional Tennis Association were on hand at the 5:30 p.m. Thursday ribbon cutting ceremony that officially opened the $9.5 million dollar tennis facility at Cooper Creek Park.


The new facility will serve as home to CSU's men and women' tennis prgorams. The team has been playing on the new courts since February of this year. The new massive project features several new amentities to tennis players that include 12 new hard courts, nine clay courts, four 'quick start' courts, and a new two story clubhouse all on seven acres of land in the park.


The facility has been named the Judy and Roger Pearce Tenis Center. Judy Pearce was was the executive director of CORTA for more than two decades and Roger Pearce was a national level competitor and tennis instructor.


The new facility is officially opened with the ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday. The new 12,000 square foot two story club house will also be home to Columbus State's nationally ranked tennis programs. The teams are believed to be the primary users of the twelve hard courts at the facility.
