COLUMBUS, GA: The University System of Georgia's Board of Regents and Columbus State University will pay tribute to a former Columbus State University by naming a new downtown structure after Dr. Frank Brown.

Construction crews have been working on CSU's new School of Nursing at the intersection of Broadway and 12th Street in downtown Columbus. The new three story structure is set to open and begin holding classes in January. When students enter the new building it will be known as Frank D. Brown Hall in honor of the former University President.

In a press release from the University it states that it is only appropriate for the new structure to be named after Dr. Brown who was a key player in the development of CSU's beautiful Riverpark downtown campus and revitalization efforts in downtown Columbus.

Dr. Frank Brown served the University until June of 2008 when he retired after 20 years as University President and saw the University transfer from the days of Columbus College to Columbus State University. The new building named after Dr. Brown will hold programs for CSU's nursing programs and educational programs.

The Columbus State University's Riverpark campus has become a landmark in downtown Columbus hosting arts, theater, and music programs in a majority. As well as dormitories in downtown Columbus have now pushed a breath of fresh air into the life of downtown Columbus. The new programs and construction now occurring downtown are having a direct impact as several new shops and eateries are under construction downtown.
