Heritage Tower is located at 18 9th Street in Columbus. The 5-story building located on the edges of Columbus' Historic District is often overlooked by many visitors to the downtown area of the city. The low-rise office building has recently become a gem of the Uptown skyline in Columbus after a South Georgia college professor recently painted a 5-story mural on the western side of the building that features one of the most iconic landmarks in Columbus.
Chris Johnson, an art professor at Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia located a little under an hour south of Columbus has been working since earlier this month to complete a 5-story mural on the western side of the Heritage Tower in Columbus.

The multi-colored mural is one of the largest in Columbus, towering nearly 62-feet into the air. The mural features the iconic Miss Columbus who is more commonly seen on Wynnton Road near Midtown Columbus. The Miss Columbus Fountain sits at the intersection of Wynnton Road and 13th Avenue in Columbus between the Aflac Tower and Columbus Museum. The Fountain is more commonly known as the Lenora Sarling Fountain, who was a pioneering leader in Columbus.
Many in the Uptown area of Columbus have watched Johnson work on the mural over the past couple of weeks as the mural has come to life and brought a vibrant feel to Uptown Columbus. The mural has been well perceived by those who have watched it come to life and well welcomed to Columbus' downtown skyline.
The mural joins several other works of art in the Uptown area that include murals, sculptures, and streetscapes doting the historic areas of Downtown Columbus. Work on the mural is expected to be completed by the end of July.
