Flash Flood Watch Issued North Of Columbus

A large portion of Georgia has been placed under a Flash Flood Watch through Wednesday Morning.
COLUMBUS, GA: The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Flash Flood Watch for areas of north and western Georgia through Wednesday morning. The watch includes some areas near Columbus, but the city is not included in the watch.


NWS is reporting that flooding is possible in low lying and flood prone areas. This includes areas such as creeks, streams, and rivers that may overflow their banks. On Monday night and Tuesday morning rainfall amounts between 1-3 inches were reported in some areas of the watch. Isolated areas in the watch have already received between 4-6 inches of rainfall with additional rainfall on the way today.


In the local area several counties are under the watch they include Harris, Talbot, Troup, and Meriwether. These includes cities such as Lagrange, Hogansville, Pine Mountain, Hamilton, Manchester, Waverly Hall, Geneva, Cataula, Fortson, Ellerslie, Greenville, Woodbury, and Talbotton.


The Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. IT means that conditions may develop that can lead to flash flooding.

No watches exist in the region for Alabama at this time. The only Flash Flood Watches in that state are in the far south part of the state near Mobile.
