How the 4th of July Holiday will impact Columbus city services

METRA bus service in Columbus will not run on Monday, July 5, 2021 as the City of Columbus observes the Independence Day holiday.
COLUMBUS, GA- The Fourth of July holiday falls on Sunday, July 4, this year. The City of Columbus has announced that the city will observe the holiday on Monday July 5, 2021 for its employees. With the observation of the holiday some city services will be impacted.

The following is a summary of service impacts to different areas of city services in relation to the Independence Day holiday.

Waste/Recycling Collection

The City of Columbus has announced there will be no waste or recycling collection on Monday, July 5, 2021. Routes that are normally collected in the city on Monday will be collected on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. No other service days or routes will be impacted and will be collected on their normal collection days.

Landfills

The two landfills in Columbus located at Granite Bluff and Pine Grove will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021. Normal schedules of operation resume on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

311 Citizens Service Center

The 311 Citizens Service Center will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.

Civic Center/Ice Rink

The Columbus Civic Center's administrative offices will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.
The Columbus Ice Rink will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.

Animal Control

Columbus Animal Control will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.

METRA Bus Service

Columbus' city transit system, METRA will have their administrative offices closed on Monday, July 5. In addition there will be no bus service provided by METRA on Monday, July 5, in observation of Independence Day. Normal routes resume on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Recorders Court

The administrative offices of Columbus Recorders Court will be closed on Monday, July 5, 2021.
Recorders Court will hold first advisement court session at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 5.

Parks and Recreation

Columbus Parks and Recreation has announced that all pars and recreation facilities will be closed on Sunday, July 4, 2021, with the exception of outdoor pools which will operate between the hours of 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST.
On Monday, July 5 the following facilities will operate on the following hours according to Parks and Recreation.

-Cooper Creek will operate between 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
-Lake Oliver Marina will operate between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
-The Columbus Aquatic Center will operate between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

On Monday, July 5, 2021, all recreation centers, senior centers, Britt David Pottery, Pop Austin Recreation, Ma Rainey House, and Parks and Recreation Administrative offices will be closed.
