Mother Charged In Connection To Infants Death

A Columbus mother has been arrested in connection to the death of her infant child last September.

COLUMBUS, GA-The mother of an infant that passed away last fall is behind bars after an investigation has concluded the death of 6-month-old infant warranted charges that showed the babies death was due to a homicide.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 6-month-old Keniyah Gates was pronounced deceased on September 25 ,2023. Following the infants death the GBI conducted a death investigation and has ruled the child's death was due to blunt force head trauma.
Police have arrested the mother of Keniyah, Shantra Gates in connection to the infants death.
