PCPD Arrest Armed Robbery Suspects After Chase

Phenix City Police have arrested two men in connection to a Wednesday night gas station robbery on the south end of Phenix City.
PHENIX CITY, AL: Phenix City Police have arrested two men in connection to a Wednesday gas station robbery on the south end of the city. The events that started as an armed robbery soon led to a short high speed chase and the two suspects in custody.

According to information released by the Phenix City Police Department, officers from the department received a call of an armed robbery at the Castle Fuels Station located at the intersection of Alabama Highway 165 and U.S. Highway 431 on Wednesday at 11:28 p.m.

As two male suspects were exiting the business, a deputy with the Russell County Sheriffs Department was in the area and noticed the two men running from the store towards a vehicle. The suspects entered that vehicle and fled the scene at what police describe as a high rate of speed. The deputy in the area had also heard a be on the lookout bulletin that was being broadcast in connection to the armed robbery.

The deputy gave pursuit to the vehicle as a short chase took place. That chase resulted in a single vehicle accident only a short distance from the gas station. Police were able to take two men into custody. They have been identified as Trystan Greenlee and Tony Prather. Police were also able to seize a handgun during the arrest. That gun was identified as one stolen out of Clayton County, Georgia.

Police charged Trystan Greenlee with robbery 1st degree and attempting to elude. Prather was arrested on charges of robbery 1st degree, and certain person forbidden to carry a pistol and receiving stolen property. Both men have been booked into the Russell County Jail.
