COLUMBUS, GA:A Columbus seafood restaurant will not reopen its doors after closing for the COVID-19 pandemic. The location is one among eight across the southeast to permanently close after the pandemic forced its closure.

Shrimp Basket located at 6073 Veterans Parkway in Columbus has permanently closed. Signage at the Columbus location was taken down last week and the location was removed from the Pensacola, Florida-based companies website earlier this week.

Shrimp Basket opened its doors in March of 2017 in the newly constructed location just off of Veterans Parkway and became a local favorite for seafood lovers in the Columbus and Phenix City area.

In addition to the closure in Columbus, locations were also closed in Montgomery, Tillman's Corner (Mobile), Old Shell Road (Mobile), Hattiesburg, Fort Walton, Birmingham (Crestwood), and Ridgeland, Miss.

Company officials have noted that the coronavirus pandemic took a significant toll on their business. Despite the local closures the chain still has numerous locations across Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. There is one location that remains open in the Chattahoochee Valley in Auburn.
