40-Year-Old Man Killed In Wednesday Night Shooting In Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA- Police in Georgia’s second largest city are investigating a fatal overnight shooting that claimed the life of a 40-year-old man.

According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, 40-year-old Joseph Delaney Kimble, was pronounced dead at 11:33 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Bryan reports Kimble was shot in the 2900 block of King Street in Columbus and suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

According to the Columbus Police Department, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at around 10:36 p.m. Columbus police were dispatched to reports of shots fired in the 2900 block of King Street. When officers arrived they located a black male suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officials with Columbus Fire and EMS arrived and were unable to resuscitate the victim who was pronounced dead at 11:33 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Elizabeth Allision. The Columbus Police Department Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to take the lead in the investigation.

The body of Kimble will be transported to the state crime lab for an autopsy according to officials with the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office.
