Columbus police investigating Tuesday shooting on Milgen Road

Columbus police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 5700 block of Milgen Road Tuesday afternoon.
COLUMBUS, GA-Investigators from the Columbus Police Department are investigating a shooting that took place on Milgen Road Tuesday afternoon that has sent one person to the hospital.

Columbus police responded to reports of a shooting in the 5700 block of Milgen Road on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 6, 2021, shortly before 5 p.m. Police units converged on the area and concentrated their investigation near Mercy's Jamaican Kitchen. Police sealed the parking lot to the business off as they conducted their investigation.

Police confirm that one person was injured in the shooting and has been transported to a hospital. The victim is listed in critical condition. Police have released no additional details about the shooting at this time.

This is at least the second shooting in Columbus in less than 24 hours. One person was injured in a shooting on Walker Street Monday evening.

As of 6 p.m. Columbus police remained on scene in the parking lot of Mercy's Jamaican Kitchen. Several marked and unmarked police units sealed the parking lot as crime scene investigators continued to work what appeared to be an active scene.
